Position Available: Domestic Violence Youth Advocate

Family Support Center (FSC) is a not-for-profit anti-violence agency focusing on domestic and sexual violence and child abuse prevention and survivor services in the Chippewa Valley. We currently have an opening for a full time Domestic Violence Youth Advocate in Chippewa County. The primary responsibility of this position is to promote the safety, resilience and healing of youth who have been affected by domestic violence. The person in this position provides counseling and advocacy and facilitates skill building and support groups to youth. This position will also provide some services to adult survivors of domestic violence and adult and youth survivors of sexual assault. This position also provides outreach to other community agencies and potential referral sources.

This position is 36 hours per week (full time at FSC), plus occasional weekend and holiday on-call shifts. It is based in an office space in Chippewa Falls, WI, with frequent travel throughout Chippewa County. The starting wage scale range for this position is $17 - $22.40 per hour plus stipends for on-call shifts. Benefits include health insurance, generous vacation and sick leave and an employee assistance program.

Qualifications: We are looking for a passionate individual to bring their unique perspective to our mutually supportive team of advocates. The ideal candidate will have a history of providing crisis intervention and ongoing services to youth who have experienced trauma; and knowledge and understanding of the dynamics of domestic violence and sexual assault. The person in this position must be able to network and collaborate with a wide variety of agencies including schools, health care facilities and legal systems.

A Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Gender and Sexuality Studies or other related discipline is considered a plus. Equivalent experience in lieu of a degree will be considered.
